CHASE ELECTRIC
Enphase Battery Installation for Home Backup
Power outages in Maine are not rare. Ice storms, wind events, and aging grid infrastructure mean most homeowners lose power at least a few times a year, sometimes for days. Chase Electric installs Enphase IQ Battery systems that keep your essential circuits, or your whole home, running through it. We install them paired with new solar, added onto existing Enphase solar, or as standalone grid-charged home battery backup.
How Home Battery Backup Works
An Enphase IQ Battery stores electricity. When the grid is up, the battery charges from your solar panels during the day, or from the grid during off-peak hours. When the grid goes down, the battery takes over within milliseconds. Lights stay on, the well pump keeps pumping, the fridge keeps running, and the heat keeps running on circuits you have backed up. The system is fully automatic and managed through the Enphase app on your phone.
The Enphase IQ Battery 10C
Enphase’s newest residential battery is the IQ Battery 10C, offering 10 kWh of usable energy storage and reliable backup power for essential home systems during outages. Battery systems can be customized based on your home’s energy needs and paired with solar for extended backup capability. Chase Electric can help design the right backup solution for your home and budget.

Pair With Solar or Install Standalone
A battery paired with solar is the most complete option. Sun charges the battery, the battery powers the house, and the grid is just there for backup. But you do not need solar to have a battery. We install grid-charged Enphase batteries for homeowners who want quiet, fuel-free outage backup without committing to a roof full of panels. It is a clean alternative or complement to a standby generator, with no fuel deliveries and no maintenance schedule.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does an Enphase battery system cost?
1
A single Enphase IQ Battery 10C installed typically runs $10,000 to $13,000 depending on site complexity. Multi-battery whole-home systems range from $18,000 to $35,000.
Enphase vs. Tesla Powerwall?
2
Both are excellent products and we have installed Enphase exclusively for a reason. The Enphase IQ Battery is modular, which means you can start with one battery and add more later as your needs change. Tesla Powerwall ships as a single larger unit. Enphase pairs natively with Enphase solar (no extra hardware) while a Powerwall requires its own gateway. Enphase uses lithium iron phosphate chemistry, which is the safer, longer-cycle-life battery chemistry. For homeowners who want flexibility and a system that grows with them, Enphase is the right choice.
Battery vs. standby generator?
3
Different tools for different homeowners. A battery is silent, automatic, has no fuel costs, and is great for outages of a few hours to a few days. A standby generator runs as long as you have fuel, which makes it better for week-long outages in a heating emergency. Some homeowners install both.
Can I add Enphase batteries to my existing solar?
4
Yes, as long as the solar is on Enphase microinverters or can be retrofitted with an Enphase System Controller. We can assess your existing system and tell you what is needed.
